Welcome to The Teacake Gazette, my blog where I write fiction set in the Victorian, Edwardian, and modern eras. It is mostly romance, but there are stories of adventure and magic set in the American West, Victorian England, the circus, fairy tales, and some spooky tales thrown in.

I was posting historical and nonfiction articles, but I am migrating those into tidbits at the end of the fiction based on that week's theme.  I have realized over the past few months of writing that I prefer to focus on fiction within the modern era and the historical world of the Victorian and Edwardian eras, but I don’t want to vacate the factual and practical side altogether.

I will still post twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays in my various themes and settings.

Happy reading!

Under the Big Top

Secrets, spectacle, and stories from the golden age of the circus.

I love the glitz, glamour, and seedier side, of the circus when it was "the thing" to do in towns across the country as it grew and settled. Townsfolk gathered to see something magical, weird, and breathtaking. How did the performers live and what did the audience think as the circus rolled into town? The show is about to begin—step inside and discover the stories that live in the spotlight...and the shadows.
